This in-service training is designed for law enforcement personnel, emergency first responders, firefighters, and all professionals responsible for public safety. The training will provide an overview of Tourette Syndrome (TS) and its associated disorders – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety. It will review the symptoms of the disorder, clear up any misconceptions, and discuss de-escalation techniques.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain and understanding of the symptoms of TS and its associated disorders
  • Review the implications of TS and how it may impact an individual’s actions in a high-stress situation
  • Learn de-escalation techniques and how to respond to the typical TS behaviors, even the swearing and anger, to avoid further confrontation
